Sylvester Stallone Teases Rocky & Apollo Reunion In ‘Creed’ Sequel

I'm not crying, you're crying. In a new interview, Sly Stallone reflected on his incredible 'Creed' performance, but also previewed the next installment -- and how he has hopes that Apollo will make a comeback. No, you're not crazy -- Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers) died in Rocky IV, paving the way for his son, Adonis Creed to shine in the new movie. However, Michael B. Jordan's character may be seeing his dad again. In a new interview, Sylvester Stallone revealed that there's a lot more story to tell in Creed 2, and that the director and he have some very interesting ideas.

Ryan [Coogler] has some ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together,” Sly told our sister site, Variety in their cover story. “Think of The Godfather 2.’ hat’s what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious.” He also added that he recently saw how in shape Carl was. “I can’t believe I got in the ring with him — even if it was play fighting.”

Ryan also reacted to Sly’s interview with Variety after he told the ideas they had. “Oh no! There are no secrets with Sly,” he said. Michael B. Jordan also responded, asking, “So it’s going to be a CGI-version of Sly? I’m trying to think about it. Knowing Ryan, he’ll find a clever way to make that work.”

Another idea that Ryan and Sly have been throwing around is Creed 2 could be Adonis V. someone new. “You’ll have him face a different opponent, which I would say is a more ferocious, big Russian,” he said. “You can start to meld my experiences and then you start to bring different cultures into it. And you can see what’s happening with the Russians today in America. The complication will come with the girl’s ambition, because she’s not Adrian. She has places to go, things to see, the clock is running on her hearing.”
