Jordan making it to the Finals was absolutely no surprise — he has literally been slaying this competition from his very first performance, and his collaborative efforts with coach Adam Levine have only made him better. His rendition of “Climb Every Mountain” form The Sound Of Music in this week’s episode — a perfect song choice, don’t you agree?! — can be described as nothing but absolute perfection.
Up next, Blake Shelton’s first artist in the finale, Emily Ann, sang her favorite holiday song, “Blue Christmas,” and, as usual, she looked and sounded like a star. The one thing about all these finalists is that singing and performing comes so naturally to them, and Emily really showed that off with this one. Blake actually took the stage next, teaming up with his second finalist, Barrett, for a full-on country rendition of “Rhinestone Cowboy” — the perfect fit, obviously. I loved it and the bromance between these two guys!
Gwen Stefani’s final remaining contestant, Jeffery, was up next to perform his holiday song of choice, “O Holy Night,” and after being the singer instantly saved last week, he really took it up a notch to prove to America why he deserves their votes. Next, Adam joined Jordan for an incredible duet of The Beach Boys‘ “God Only Knows,” which is actually one of the coach’s singers favorite songs of all time. What an interesting blend of voices…that just so happened to totally work!
Barrett was back on stage next, and showed how he can fit in right with any other current country artist by singing “Die A Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. The plane crash survivor did a perfect job of proving that he could make it today’s world of country music, and he totally had the audience (and me!) moved with the romantic love song. Fellow Team Blake singer, Emily Ann, returned next, to sing with her coach, and the duo picked the PERFECT country tune for their duet — Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers‘ “Island In The Stream.” Blake is such a great mentor to Emily Ann and we loved seeing them get the chance to perform together!
Next, another chance for Jeffery to show what he can do, and he did just that with a rendition of “Stay” by Sugarland, totally flipping the switch and putting a pop rendition on a country song. (Side note: Anyone think, perhaps, Gwen got some inspiration from boyfriend Blake to go country with the song choice on this one?!) Either way, it totally worked, and Jeffery sounded amazing! For his final performance of the night, Barrett came back out to sing “Silent Night,” and as if he wasn’t already tugging at our heartstrings enough this episode, this one totally did it. SO beautiful!
Jeffery and Gwen have had such a great relationship on this show ever since she was the only one to turn her chair during his Blind Audition, so it was amazing to see them sing together for their finale duet of “Leather and Lace.” These two just fit so well together and it was beyond obvious when they hit the stage as a pair. Jordan came back for one last time next for his holiday performance, and, I mean…do I really even need to go into how amazingly perfect he sang “Mary Did You Know?” I think it’s pretty clear that this guy is incredible!
Closing out the night was Emily Ann with her third go on stage, and what a way to end the Finals it was! The 17-year-old gave an emotional performance of the current country hit “Burning House,” a choice by her coach, Blake, and she sounded truly amazing.
