The now-former couple has reportedly taken the first steps to dissolve their marriage, reports TMZ. Alvina allegedly filled the document on Sept. 25, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause. The couple met when they were teenagers and got married in 1995. They have two children together, Kyra, 19, and Nathan, 15. At this time,  Alvina is seeking joint legal custody of their teenage son. She’s also asking for primary physical custody of him, but allowing for reasonable visitation rights for Anthony. Additionally, Alvina is also asking for spousal support from the actor, who also hosts the Food Network show, Carnival Cravings With Anthony Anderson, in addition to his thriving acting career.

This of course, explains why the actor was not joined by his wife at the 67th Annual Primetime Emmys on Sept. 20.  Instead, Anthony was accompanied by his son, who also joined him on the red carpet for photos.  Despite the couple’s ongoing martial issues, the father and son duo appeared to be in good spirits, taking to Instagram to show off a number of fun selfies. In one particularly adorable photo, the two can be seen adjusting each other’s bowties in front of the step-and-repeat.  “Gotta make sure we look good, dammit! Son @not_nathaniel and I at the #Emmys,” Anthony captioned the cute pic.

The former NYPD Blue star also took to the social media app again on Sept. 23, this time to pay tribute to his loving family. “I love my family, I love my job, I love my life. THAT is why I am successful,” he captioned the photo taken as part of a petition sponsored by Strayer University. We’re so sad to hear about Anthony and his wife, but hopefully they can remain on good terms for the sake of their children.
