“Zayn and Perrie have been struggling for months,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She’s been touring and he’s been focusing on the second chapter of his career. They barely saw each other and they hadn’t even had sex in over two months.” Eek — definitely not a good sign!
Still, Perrie seemed to be caught pretty off guard by the break up — on July 11, she posted a cute photo of the pair together and captioned it, “Love ma man!” with a kissing lips emoji. But it’s been reported that Zayn actually ended things two weeks before news of the split broke on Aug. 4, which wouldn’t have been too long after that gushing social media post.
Zayn and Perrie have yet to comment on their relationship status, but on Aug. 3, Perrie’s bandmate, Jesy Nelson, 24, posted a very telling photo of the 22-year-old to Instagram — in which she’s not wearing her engagement ring! In the pic, Perrie shows off her unreal bikini body while lounging by the pool, and seems totally carefree, giving a peace sign to the camera.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Perrie is totally “devastated” over the split, so it’s nice to see her putting on a brave face and getting such great support from her bandmates. “Perrie was really worried about the split and had been crying a lot on tour,” a source told us EXCLUSIVELY. “Fortunately, the Little Mix girls have been there for her.”
Zayn Malik Ends Engagement After Perrie Edwards Pushes For Wedding
Perrie and Zayn got engaged in 2013 after dating for less than two years, and HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that he began to get super frustrated when she started pressuring him to get moving on the wedding plans. “The further they fell apart, the more anxious she got, and the more she started pressing him to set a wedding date,” our insider explained. “She pushed and pushed and finally Zayn told her he didn’t want to get married.”
It’s true — planning the wedding definitely took a backseat to the pair’s careers this year. “I don’t know when the wedding will be,” Perrie admitted to The Sun in May. “We’re still planning it, but I’m so busy with Little Mix enow. Me and Zayn want it to be perfect, so as soon as I have a bit of time, we’ll plan it. I doubt it will be this summer — but I’ll let you know.” Guess she doesn’t have to worry about that anymore!
