‘Glee’: Rachel & Sam Dating In Final Season — 3 Reasons They Shouldn’t Hook Up – Hollywood Life

‘Glee’ Final Season: 3 Reasons Rachel & Sam Should Not Get Together

Following Sam and Mercedes break up at the end of season five, the future for his romantic partner was up in the air -- and Rachel was in the running. So, will this happen? We're not sure. Should it? I'm going with, no. When she's not guest starring as the amazing Gertie on Sons of Anarchy, Lea Michele is a tad busy filming the final season of Glee, but filming what exactly? We're all wondering what will happen to Rachel in the final season, now that we know her ending won't be as Ryan Murphy imagined it.

‘Glee’: Rachel & Sam Dating? Not So Fast

With Rachel heading back to Ohio and taking over the McKinley High glee club, many are left wondering if she’ll venture into a new romance — with Sam (Chord Overstreet). About midway through season five, sparks flew between the two briefly and the creators have teased that it hasn’t happened “yet.” So, could it be now? Well, here’s my break down of why Rachel and Sam getting together would just be the worst thing ever.

Reason 1: Mercedes

Let’s talk, just for a minute here, about girl code. In Glee, the girls have stuck together. Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Sam just broke up, pretty much so that she could go on tour and well, he could go have sex since she wanted to wait. However, Rachel and Mercedes grew super close last season and even bonded over their love for men — Rachel even opened up about Finn to her. So, uh, Rachel put chicks before… well, you know.

Reason 2: Rachel Needs To Find Rachel

During season five, Rachel spent the season trying to not only find out what she wanted to do, but really who she was. After Finn’s death, she never really did that — she thought being Fanny in “Funny Girl” was her dream, but it clearly wasn’t since she snuck around to get to LA. So, why does Rachel need a pair? Can’t she just focus on herself without a guy (which yes, I know, it’s a little unheardof in Glee world). That brings me to . . .

Reason 3: Finn

It’s the elephant in the room, of course, but Sam was extremely close to Finn (Cory Monteith). So with him passing away, if anything, Sam and Rachel could become closer friends — he could help with Glee Club, in a way of remembering Finn, and they could really lean on each other while both being back in their hometown. But would a guy really date one of his BFF’s exes after he passes away? C’mon now. Let’s sing this out.

We know Ryan wanted the show to end with Rachel and Finn in the choir room, but now that that’s out, I would be completely game for Rachel being alone in the choir room or with the original Glee Club family — that is her home and they are her home.

Alright, HollywoodLifers — I’ve said my part, but I obviously need to hear yours! Do you think Sam and Rachel should date? Should they be together in the end? Let me know!
