‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Dr. Webber Tells Maggie He’s Her Father — October 9 Recap – Hollywood Life

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Dr. Webber Finally Confronts Maggie

The drama-filled staff of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital are back and we couldn't be more excited Shona Rhimes you've done it again. Thank you for another intense episode! The Oct. 9th episode of Grey’s Anatomy did not disappoint. It seems that no relationship -- whether friendly or sexual, is safe. Did we mention a man had a run in with a lumber truck on the highway and lost? Ouch.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: Relationships Were Made & Torn

It was an episode full of intense scenes. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) just can’t seem to come to terms that Dr. Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is her sister and decides to ditch work and turn to Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and booze for answers. It seems like most of the characters in Grey’s find it best to let out all their baggage in the bathroom while their fellow co-worker is butt naked in the shower. Hey, whatever works and we don’t mind a little peep show with our drama! But what about the other Grey? Well, things didn’t end to well for her either this episode.

Meredith Clings To Alex For Advice

Ever since Dr. Yang jetted off to live out her dreams, poor Meredith has been left trying to fill the void with a new “person.” That’s where Alex comes in. He has come to terms with the new role, but just doesn’t understand why Mer needs to invite herself into the bathroom while he’s lathering up in the shower. She begins to ramble on about Maggie revealing the secret she’s her sister all the while all Alex cares about is concentrating on the board meeting. This doesn’t stop Mer from gaining his full attention after she drops the sister bomb. The two spend the episode supporting one another by listening and complaining about their current situations.

Mer finally comes to terms that Maggie is in fact her half sister after Alex pulls up old hospital records on the computer about Elis Grey. It seems she checked herself in spring of ’83, the night she tried to commit suicide. It was only then that she found out she was pregnant.

Callie & Arizona Take On Even More

Arizona gets thrusted into the new fellowship quicker than expected and the timing couldn’t be worse — there is a future surrogate baby that needs a family, but that seems to be pushed aside now. This doesn’t go over so well with Callie, whose been dreaming of having a second baby. But she also has a new project that is going to be more time consuming than she could only imagine. The couple wind up fighting and end the episode on the outs.

Callie & Owen Go At It Over Robot Legs

What started out as selfless charitable work for wounded warriors, turns ugly when a possible candidate has to be turned away. Owen lured Callie into a rehab center room full of wounded soldiers who all had missing limbs, in hopes that Callie could take on their cases and build them limbs from her new robotic limb project.

But when Owen gets to wrapped up in this personal case, he can’t digest the information Callie tries to deliver, that sensors won’t work on this man’s nerves. Owen freaks out on her in the middle of the hallway and screams to “fix it…that’s an order!”

Just when all hope seems lost for one-legged military man, the glorious Avery steps in and suggests to reroute nerves in the mans leg in order for Callies robotic leg to connect. And BAM, another miracle! Did we mention how much we love Dr. Avery?

It wasn’t long after that Owen sought out Callie to apologize and confided in her that he needs something, something to make him feel better and get out of the dark place he currently is in.

Obviously Dr. Christina Yang has left him practically destroyed. “Every morning I wake up with this pit… and maybe my dreams are over… she was my family and I let her go.” He went on to say, “I need a reason to get up every morning.”

Poor Dr. Hunt, you can’t help but love him, no matter how much of a short fuse he has.

Amy & Derek’s Sibling Rivalry Hit An All Time High

Tensions were through the roof between the Shepherd siblings. Derek repeatedly stepped on his younger sisters toes throughout the entire episode by stealing her patient multiple times. He tried to control this one particular case, even though Amy had it handled. She confronted him, but he talked down to her saying that the cases were too big for her to take on.

But she stood her ground and told McDreamy, “I don’t need your bullying… stop trying to be King of the hospital.” But its clear, Derek is resenting his choices to stay and not pursue his surgical dream in Washington DC.

Miranda & Alex Go Toe To Toe

Finally the moment they’ve been waiting for, the final board seat has been chosen. Although both candidates are more than qualified and both are tremendous doctors, there is only one seat on the board. It doesn’t matter that Dr. Yang personally handed over her seat to Alex, because in the end, Dr. Bailey won out, leaving Alex destroyed and leaving the hospital.

Meredith & Derek — Things Aren’t Looking Good

Things are not looking good for everyone’s favorite couple. Meredith has yet to confide in Derek just how awful he has made her feel about his decision to stay in Seattle. And she also has yet to let him know she has a half sister. They were apart the entire episode up until the very end — just about around the time she’s a bit drunk and actually is ready to tell him about Maggie. But, Derek cut her off quick and freaked out on her for not being sober and blamed her for letting him give up Washington, DC.

Dr. Webber Finally Confronts Dr. Maggie

It was only a matter of time before Dr. Webber manned up and told Maggie he was her father. But at what price? Of course it was at the very end of the episode that he finally revealed to her that he in fact is her family. Were you hoping for a loving reunion full of hugs and tears? Sorry, but that just isn’t how Shonda Rhimes works.

Maggie winds up disgusted that he let her go on all week spilling her guts to him and he wasn’t brave enough to admit he was her dad. She lashed out at him and practically cut him down to size, calling him a coward. Ouch, hopefully in time she can come to terms with the news.

Drama, drama, drama — but we love it!

What do you think HollywoodLifers, was Maggie too hard on Webber? Does Derek need to apologize and live with his decision? Does Miranda deserve the board seat? Let us know!
