Sarah Goldberg Dead: ‘7th Heaven’ Actress Dies In Her Sleep

Sarah passed away “peacefully in her sleep of natural causes” on Sept. 27 at 40 years old, according to CBS Chicago. The site says that Sarah’s family confirmed the news.

Sarah was a true small-town girl who hit it big in Hollywood. She was born in Springfield, Illinois, then lived in Chicago, where she earned a Microbiology degree from Amherst College in 1996. After graduating from college, Sarah moved to Hollywood.

Sarah’s mom, Judy Goldberg, spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times about her daughter’s death. She told the paper that an autopsy did not determine Sarah’s cause of death, but that a “heart ailment is suspected.” She said that Sarah “died peacefully” while sleeping at her family’s cabin in Wisconsin.

“She went to sleep and didn’t wake up,” Judy told the Sun-Times. Her mom also explained that Sarah was in Wisconsin to celebrate the Jewish holidays with her family, but lived in Santa Monica, Calif. She detailed to the paper how Sarah was unexpectedly discovered as an actress while walking around the set of My Best Friend’s Wedding, which was filmed near her family’s home in Chicago.

Judy said that Sarah helped “arrange tablecloths and napkins” for the movie (which starred Julia Roberts), then walked around the set. While walking around, part of the film’s crew asked her if she wanted to be an extra in the wedding scene. The wedding scene was formal, so Sarah and her mom rushed out and quickly bought a dress, then Sarah appeared as an extra in the movie. What a sweet story and wonderful memory.

Sarah is survived by her mom, her dad Bill Goldberg, her brother Bradley, his wife Michelle, a niece and nephew and her two dogs, Daisy and Bucket, according to Daily Mail

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sarah’s loved ones during this very difficult time.
