Fans were thrilled when a new promo poster for ‘Love & Basketball 2’ surfaced online on Sept. 17. So will stars Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan be reuniting for a sequel? Here’s what we know.
Omar Epps, 41, and Sanaa Lathan, 42, were absolutely amazing in Love & Basketball and moviegoers still remember the 2000 film fondly as one of the finest romantic comedies of its time. And now, 14 years later, the two stars are rumored to be reuniting for a rematch!
‘Love & Basketball 2’: Is There A Sequel In The Works? — New Poster Released
Unfortunately, HollywoodLifers, that won’t be happening. We know, we’re bummed too.
A new promo poster for Love & Basketball 2, featuring Omar and Sanaa, made its rounds on the internet on Sept. 17, but sadly the film will (most likely) never find its way to the big screen.
The faux poster even came with a faux release date — claiming the movie would be in theaters on Valentine’s Day, 2015.
Yeah, it really had us going. We would have loved to see these two get back together on the big screen, but maybe Sanaa will do a cameo on Omar’s hit show, Resurrection. We’ll take ‘em wherever we can get ‘em!
Omar Epps Addresses Sequel Rumor On Twitter
The fake poster took Twitter by storm on Sept. 17. Many fans expressed their interest in a sequel, while others said to just leave the classic flick alone.
Sanaa spoke out about the possibility of a Love & Basketball sequel in February 2014, telling TheGrio.com, “The story was kind of complete in my mind.”
And it looks like her leading man, Omar, agrees. He and the movie’s creator, Gina Prince-Bythewood, both took to Twitter to squelch the rumor on Sept. 17. Here’s what they had to say:
As they say believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. There is no Love And Basketball sequel coming. #FactsOnly

Wow! For the record, there is NO sequel to Love and Basketball happening. Cute picture of Omar and Sanaa though.
