Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift: Will They Have Awkward Met Ball Run-In?

It's no secret that Taylor and Selena haven't been on speaking terms lately, so it might be more than a little bit uncomfortable if the two stars collide at the 2014 Met Ball in NYC on May 5. And that's not even the ONLY potential awkward run-in of the night -- Taylor will probably be steering clear of ex Jake Gyllenhaal while Selena will no doubt stay as far away as possible from ex-pal Kendall Jenner. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been avoiding each other at all costs ever since the "Come & Get It" singer ignored Tay's advice and reunited with her bad boy ex Justin Bieber in early March. But now that Selena and Justin have already split, perhaps the Met Ball will be the perfect opportunity for Selena to get back together with her true better half -- Taylor!

Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift At Met Ball 2014: Will They Run Into Each Other?

All eyes were on Selena, 21, at the Met Ball, and it’s no wonder why. She looked positively radiant as she made her grand entrance at the ball in a form-fitting purple gown. The Met Gala is definitely a place to mix and mingle and it’s highly possible that Sel and Taylor, 24, will run in to each other at the event.

Of course, if they do see each other, it’s inevitable that there will be some awkwardness. After all, they haven’t spoken AT ALL in weeks and Selena has even ignored Taylor’s well-intentioned attempts to reach out to her.

Still, they’re both super classy ladies and we’re sure they’ll be on their best behavior at the gala. And perhaps exchanging pleasantries tonight will pave the way for them to rekindle their friendship in the near future!

Ever since Taylor moved to New York City in March, she’s been making new friends left and right — including Cara Delevigne, Karlie Kloss and Lena Dunham. But could any of these ladies ever really take Selena’s place? We doubt it! Thankfully, we now know that Taylor is eager to reconnect with Selena, according to a HollywoodLife.com insider.

“Taylor’s hopeful that they will eventually be friends again,” the insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She misses Selena, but she’s not interested in being friends with her if Justin is still in her life. Taylor thinks he’s like an addiction for Selena and she’s not going to enable her. This is tough love, but for sure Taylor still loves Selena, she always will.”
