Stephen Pearcy Leaving RATT

Stephen Pearcy shocked fans by announcing his departure from RATT on April 24, 2014. As the most recognizable face of the band, Stephen’s departure puts the band’s fate in jeopardy. No word yet if the heavy metal group will continue, but vocalist Stephen Pearchy is out for good, after the devastating loss of his sister who passed away in March 2014.

In an official statement, Stephen told his fans that his exit is effective immediately, and he also throws some serious shade at his band members. Stephen’s announcement comes just a month after his sister’s death.

“After 30 years creating the band RATT and losing a real brother, Robbin [Crosby, late RATT guitarist], it’s time that I personally part ways with the band. I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans.

I’m very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes. I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years.

With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long. I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows.

See you out there.”

When Stephen’s sister passed away, RATT pulled out of the Monsters of Rock Cruise, as Stephen was grieving his loss. “We are deeply saddened to report that Stephen Pearcy‘s sister has passed away,” the band said in an official statement. “Due to this sudden and unexpected news, RATT will not be performing on the Monsters Of Rock cruise. We would like to thank all our loyal fans for their continued support and understanding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephen and his family. We ask that you kindly respect Stephen‘s privacy during this difficult time.”

RATT ranked on the Billboard charts throughout the ’80s for their hits Round and Round” and “Lay It Down.”

HollywoodLifers, will you miss Stephen in RATT? Do you think he left the band because of his family tragedy or do you think he was fed up with his bandmates?
