In case you had any doubts that Beyonce’s surprise new album was a hit, Billboard is reporting that the album sold over 80,000 copies in only three hours. It will almost definitely shoot to number one on the Billboard 200 when it’s released on Dec. 18 (unless Jay-Z or Taylor Swift try to one-up Bey with their own secret albums), so be sure to take a listen here:

Beyonce’s ‘Visual’ Album Channels Madonna
Beyonce explained on her Facebook page that Beyonce is a “visual album,” and that she “sees music.” We’re glad she does, because the videos on Beyonce are awe-inspiring.
“It’s more than just what I hear,” she said. “When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music… I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it. I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans.”
Be sure to keep an eye out for “Haunted,” in which Bey channels Madonna‘s classic “Express Yourself” video — it’s a can’t-miss.
