Chris' relationship with his mother has been strained in the past but we're told that the singer is working on repairing that fractured relationship and becoming a better son while he's in rehab for anger management. Chris Brown and his mother, Joyce Hawkins, are trying to mend the broken pieces of their tumultuous mother-son relationship now that the singer has been doing some soul searching while being treated for anger management in an undisclosed rehabilitation center. Chris, 24, is trying to come to terms with the fact that his mother, Joyce, is an authority in his life and only has his best interest at heart.

“He and his mom go back and forth,” a source close to Chris EXCLUSIVELY explains to HollywoodLife.com. “One day they’re cool, the next minute they’re not. He knows Mama J wants nothing but the best for him but sometimes he doesn’t see it that way.”

We’ve been told that Joyce, the matriarch of Chris’ family, thinks her son hasn’t fully matured and desperately wants him to grow while he’s still young enough to change.

Chris Brown’s Mom Thinks He’s ‘Still A Kid’

“Mentally, he’s still a kid and his mother knows that,” the source says. “Look at all the coins he drops on toys, shoes, video games, cars and all that shit. There’s nothing wrong with that but that’s some kid sh*t.

“So when his mom tries to talk to him seriously and put him up on some real sh*t about life, he doesn’t hear it half the time,” the source adds.

Since Chris has been living in an undisclosed rehabilitation center, we’re told he’s been thinking about life and his future and realizing that his mother will always have his back, even under the worst circumstances.

“She’s always going to be his moms,” the source says. “They’re working on their relationship and everything will fall into place.”
