‘TODAY’ is one of the main morning news shows that airs weekly on NBC. The show first premiered on January 14, 1952. Over the years, ‘TODAY’ has had a number of notable anchors. The current main co-anchors are Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. They are joined by Al Roker, Carson Daly, Craig Melvin, Natalie Morales, Jenna Bush Hager, and more. The main program airs 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. every weekday. The program has expanded to include third and four hours, as well as weekend editions. One of the most recognized ‘TODAY’ anchors is Katie Couric. She was one of the primary hosts from 1991 to 2006. She first joined NBC News in 1989 as a Deputy Pentagon Correspondent. Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters got her career started at ‘TODAY’ in 1961. She became a main co-anchor of the program in 1974, the first woman to have that title in the show’s history. She left ‘TODAY’ in 1976. Barbara went on to host shows like ‘The View,’ ’20/20,’ and more. Her incredible career has spanned 60 years.

Tom Brokaw

Tom Brokaw, 80, was an anchor on ‘TODAY’ from 1976 to 1981. He’s been with NBC News since 1966. He’s also hosted ‘NBC Nightly News’ and ‘Meet the Press.’ In later years, he’s continued to be a special correspondent.

Hoda Kotb, 56, became a main co-anchor for ‘TODAY’ in 2018 after Matt Lauer’s firing. She stepped into the role following his firing in Nov. 2017. She has also been the host of the fourth hour of ‘TODAY’ and has been joined by fellow co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Jenna Bush Hager.

Natalie Morales, 48, became the co-anchor of ‘TODAY’s third hour in 2008. She became the news anchor for the morning news show in 2011. Natalie moved to California and is now ‘TODAY’s West Coast anchor.

Meredith Vieira, 67, was a ‘TODAY’ co-anchor from 2006 to 2011. Prior to ‘TODAY,’ Meredith notably co-hosted ‘The View.’ She has also hosted ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ and her own syndicated talk show.

Deborah Norville, 62, co-anchored ‘TODAY’ from Jan. 1990 to Feb. 1991. Since 1995, she has been the anchor of ‘Inside Edition.’

Bryant Gumbel

Bryant Gumbel, 72, was the anchor of ‘TODAY’ from 1982 to 1997. He stepped down after 15 years. Since 1995, Bryant has hosted the HBO series ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.’

 

 September 27, 1982, and broadcast from Vietnam, Vatican City, Europe, South America, and much of the United States followed between 1984 and 1989. Gumbel’s work on Today earned him several Emmys and a large fanbase. He is the third longest serving co-host of Today, after former hosts Matt Lauer and Katie Couric. He stepped down from the show on January 3, 1997, after 15 years.
