‘The Hunger Games’ Stars: Where Are They Now? — Talk about a tribute! The first of ‘The Hunger Games’ films came out a full decade ago, revealed on Mar. 23, 2012. The sci-fi/fantasy saga instantly captivated fans young and old. Based on a series of young adult novels by author Suzanne Collins, ‘The Hunger Games’ followed Katniss Everdeen as she took on the games, a televised competition in which two teenagers from each of the twelve Districts of the fictional realm of Panem are chosen at random to fight to the death.

The first movie broke records when it grossed $694.4 million internationally. It spawned 3 successful sequels and another prequel, called ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, is in development.

The series catapulted rising stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth (seen here) into superstardom while introducing old talents like Woody Harrelson to a new generation.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence — The hero! Jennifer Lawrence played protagonist Katniss Everdeen in the movie. Her character was a teenager from the down and out District 12 who volunteers for the Hunger Games after her sister’s name is drawn during the reaping.

Jennifer wasn’t a newbie to film, but ‘The Hunger Games’ put her into another stratosphere of fame. She added more A-list credits to her resume in between filming ‘The Hunger Games series’, appearing in several ‘X-Men’ films and earning an Oscar for her part in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’.

She took a hiatus from acting in 2019, during which time she married art director Cooke Maroney and welcomed a child in Sep. 2021. Jennifer made her grand return to film with ‘Don’t Look Up’ that same year.

Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson — Josh Hutcherson played Peeta Mellark in the movies. His character was a baker from District 12 who enters the Hunger Games alongside Katniss. Since ‘The Hunger Games’, Josh has appeared in ‘The Disaster Artist’ and ‘In Dubious Battle’, as well as the Hulu series ‘Future Man’.

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson — Woody Harrelson played the grumpy but supportive mentor Haymitch Abernathy in the movies. He was already a veteran by the time of the 2012 movie, appearing on the iconic series ‘Cheers’ in the 80s and 90s. He flexed his dramatic talents in film, earning three Academy Award nominations over the years.

Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth — Liam Hemsworth played Gale Hawthorne, Katniss’ best friend, and sometimes love interest, in the movies. He first made his mark on the 2010 movie ‘The Last Kiss’, where he met future ex-wife Miley Cyrus. Post-‘Hunger Games’, he starred in ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ and ‘Isn’t It Romantic.’

Lenny Kravitz

Lenny Kravitz — Rocker Lenny Kravitz wasn’t known for his acting before appearing in ‘The Hunger Games’ as Katniss’ creative stylist Cinna in the first two movies. Known for his jams like “Fly Away” and “Again”, Grammy-winner Lenny released his 10th album ‘Strut’ in 2014. Post-‘Hunger Games’ he’s also appeared on screen in FX’s ‘Better Things’ and the upcoming J. Lo movie ‘Shotgun Wedding’.

Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks — Elizabeth Banks was a scream as Effie Trinket, Katniss’ very fashion-forward chaperone from The Capitol. In addition to ‘The Hunger Games’, Elizabeth is beloved for her part in the ‘Pitch Perfect’ movies. She also directed, produced, wrote, and starred in the 2019 reboot of Charlie’s Angels.

Stanley Tucci

Stanley Tucci — Stanley Tucci was the eccentric Panem personality Caesar Flickerman, the host of the games. He was already an accomplished actor before the blockbuster, starring in films such as Woody Allen’s ‘Deconstructing Harry’ (1997), Sam Mendes’s ‘Road to Perdition’ (2002), and Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Terminal’ (2004).

While acting is his main game, he became known as a foodie post-2021 as the host of the culinary travel series ‘Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy’, a six-part original CNN series.

Willow Shields — Willow Shields played Primrose Everdeen, Katniss’ little sister who was originally selected as District 12 tribute before her older sister stepped in for her. It was Willow’s first role. Since, she’s appeared on season 20 of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and Netflix’s ‘Spinning Out’.

Donald Sutherland — The one and only Donald Sutherland was the sinister President Snow in ‘The Hunger Games’. He was known for his roles in ‘MASH’, ‘Fellini’s Casanova’ ‘Animal House’, ‘Invasion Of The Body Snatchers’, ‘JFK’, ‘Cold Mountain’, and more before playing the series’ villain. Despite numerous other accolades, he is regarded as one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination. Since ‘The Hunger Games’, he’s appeared in FX’s Trust ‘Moonfall’ and HBO’s ‘The Undoing’.
