The politician, known for his controversial Conservative politics, graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. This led him to work as George W. Bush’s policy advisor, and he then went on to become the Solicitor General of Texas between 2003-2008. Cruz received a big promotion in 2012: an election to the U.S. Senate. He has been serving as a senator from Texas since 2013.

Cruz set his sights higher in 2016 and ran for president, but came out as the runner-up to Trump. When Joe Biden eventually ousted Trump from the office following the 2020 presidential election, Cruz was one of the politicians to object to the Democratic politician’s victory. However, he criticized Trump after the Capitol storming in Jan. 2021.
