One year after Takeoff passed away, look back at some of his most memorable moments in the spotlight, including award shows with Migos and more.
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was best known for being one third of the rap group Migos. He was part of the group with his uncle, Quavo, and cousin, Offset. The group started rapping together in 2008, releasing their first mixtape in 2011. It was in 2013, with the hit song “Versace,” that Migos began getting more widespread recognition. They released their debut album in 2015.
Takeoff also released a solo studio album of his own in 2018. In 2022, Migos seemingly broke up, with Quavo and Takeoff beginning their own ventures separately from Offset. Just weeks later, though, on November 1, Takeoff was shot and killed while at a bowling alley in Houston. He was just 28 years old. Quavo was also on the scene at the time of the rapper’s death.
