Super Bowl Cocktails 2023 — While the Super Bowl, like most sporting events, is associated with beer, there are plenty of other ways to get into the ‘spirit’ of the Big Game. When the Kansas City Chiefs meet the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona, for Super Bowl LVII, you better have something cool and refreshing on-hand, because these evenly-matched teams are going to crank up the heat for what promises to be a great game.

We’ve provided some suggestions for cocktails to make with what you have in your liquor cabinet (or what you can find via Drizly, Uber Eats, and other delivery apps.) This year is one to try something new because such is the spirit of Super Bowl LVII. The Big Game see an influx of different spirits brands all advertising in 2023. Rémy Martin, Crown Royal, and other liquor brands will pony up a record-high average of $7 million for a 30-second commercial. This is because Anheuser-Busch, the parent company for Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, and Busch brand beers, has ended its exclusivity deal with the Super Bowl, a deal first made in 1989. Molson Coors, Heineken, and others will advertise, alongside Bud, Michelob, and Busch.

However, Heineken will advertise its Heineken 0.0, it’s alcohol-free beer. Because even sober people (or those whose Dry January has extended into February) enjoy the Super Bowl as well. Some of the following recipes can be made without alcohol, in case someone wants something other than soda, water, or coffee to drink during the game – you do you.

Eagles Energizer

Eagles Energizer — Inspired by the Philadelphia Eagles, this savory cocktail features sweet melon and floral St-Germain, bound to make any Eagles fan jazzed up for the big game.

5oz Mezcal
1.5oz Santa Teresa 1796
.75oz Melon cordial
.5oz lime
.25oz St-Germain

Method: Shake, strain over rocks, serve with a lime wedge

Cheers to the Chiefs — Bring the Chief spirit to your tailgate with this easy cocktail that brings together the sweet and the spicy energy you need to cheer all night long.

1 ¾ oz Noilly Prat Rouge vermouth
1 oz Bitter liqueur
3 ½ oz chilled Rosé champagne

Garnish: orange slice & olive garnish

Method: Build the ingredients in a glass filled with cubed ice. Stir and garnish with an olive and fresh orange wedge.

Diplomatico Kick(off) — 2 oz Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
1 splash soda
1 orange zest
1 ice sphere

Directions:

Add an ice sphere to glass, add the rum and soda to taste, stir gently with bar spoon and top off with orange peel. To garnish, squeeze the orange peel on top of the glass and brush the rim for more zest.

La Batanga

La Batanga — Created by: Don Javier Delgado Corona, former bartender/owner of La Capilla, Tequila, MX

1.5 oz El Tequileño Blanco
0.25 oz Lime Juice
Top with Mexican Coca Cola
Margarita Salt (or coarse salt)

Glassware: Highball glass

Garnish: Lime wheel

Method: Salt the rim of a highball glass and fill it with ice. Add El Tequileño Blanco and Lime juice. Top with Cola. Stir with a knife to keep it authentic to Don Javier’s recipe. Garnish, and enjoy!

Mexican locals know El Tequileño to be the central ingredient in the recipe for the iconic La Batanga created in 1964 — a mix of El Tequileño Blanco, Mexican Cola and lime served in a tall, salt-rimmed glass and “cut” with a knife to honor the drink’s creator, Don Javier of the world-famous La Capilla.

2 oz Amaro Montenegro

Method: Pour beer into a chilled glass and slowly pour Amaro Montenegro into the beer, or consume side by side.

Method: Pour tequila, citrus syrup and lime juice into cocktail shaker, shake, and strain into salted rim doubles rock glass. Top with Topo Chico.

12 oz. Teremana Blanco
8 oz. Pomegranate Juice
6 oz. Cinnamon Syrup*

Method: Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl and stir. Garnish w/ Pomegranate Seeds, Orange Wheels, and cinnamon sticks. To serve, ladle into a rocks glass or punch cup filled with ice.

To make an easy cinnamon syrup: In a small saucepan, boil one cup of water with 2 tsp of ground cinnamon. Reduce heat, then add one cup of sugar, and stir until it dissolves.

Directions: Place a handful of PopCorners® Spicy Queso into a zip-top bag and crush to a fine dust using a rolling pin. Combine PopCorners® dust and a pinch of spiced salt onto a plate to taste. Run a lime wedge along the rim of a highball glass and dip into the PopCorners® dust and salt combo to rim the glass. PREPARATION
Combine all liquids in a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake until well chilled.
Strain over fresh ice in a Rocks glass.
