A photographer captured a picture of the rare strawberry moon behind Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire last night (Mon).
Andrew Sharpe took the photo of the special full moon on the summer solstice above the magnificent cathedral, which is known as the Ship of the Fens. A strawberry moon is a full moon that happens in June and gets its name because Algonquin tribes believed it signalled that strawberries and other fruit were ready to be harvested. Monday was the first time since 1967 that this event happened on the same day as the summer solstice and it won’t happen again until 2062.
