The muscian, singer, songwriter and actor is best known as the lead singer of the legendary Boston rock band, Aerosmith. He helped found the band with guitarist Joe Perry in 1970, and they went on to become one of the preeminent rock bands of their day. They broke big with their 1975 album ‘Toys in the Attic,’ fueled by the single ‘Sweet Emotion.’ In 1976 they scored a top 10 hit with the single ‘Walk This Way’ off the album ‘Rocks’ which would go on to become one of rock’s most frequently played radio hits.
Steven and the band had a resurgence in the 80’s after they collaborated with Run D.M.C. on an rap version of ‘Walk This Way.’ They followed it up with smash hits including ‘Angel,’ ‘Dude (Looks Like A Lady),’ ‘Janie’s Got A Gun’ and ‘Ragdoll.’ They also became known for their movie-like music videos. Steven’s gorgeous teen daughter at the time, Liv Tyler, made her acting debut in the band’s ‘Crazy’ video, and teen actress Alicia Silverstone was highly featured in ‘Cryin.’
Steven went on to become a judge on Fox’s ‘American Idol’ in 2011 and 2012 but left after two seasons to go back to his full-time true love, Aerosmith. The band continues to tour to this day.
