Stars At Carnival: Rihanna & More — Brazil’s annual Carnival festivities started on Friday, Feb. 17, bringing throngs of people to the streets to celebrate. The Brazilian government said that over 46 million people would be attending this year. The celebration, which lasts until Feb. 22, marks days of excess ahead of Lent, the season where Catholics fast and reflect.

Carnival is big business for Brazil. Rio’s tourism agency estimated the festival will generate $1 billion in revenue, largely for businesses like bars and hotels.

While the tradition began in Brazil, countries around the world now celebrate. Rihanna put on a very sexy display during Barbados celebrations in 2015. She teamed a sparkling bikini with feathered wings for a truly angelic look.
