As public figures, musicians and music artists have a great platform to make a difference. And some female artists have gone the extra mile by starting their own foundations and charities. Stars like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and so many more took a huge leap of faith by creating their non-profit organizations, and they are serving the communities they love and care about so well! From fundraisers, to benefits, and so many more events and means of generating educational endeavors, these women have really done some very good work.

Here, Jennifer Lopez attends the Healthy Childhood initiative launch event, sponsored by the Montefiore Health System in partnership with the Lopez Family Foundation, at the Montefiore Medical Center on Sunday, June 1, 2014, in New York. To see more examples of female artists who have created their own foundations and non-profit organizations, check out the rest of the photos in this gallery.

Tegan and Sara started the Tegan and Sara Foundation in 2016 to fight for economic justice, health and representation for LGBTQ girls and women. As Tegan told us last year: “Our focus is LBGTQ women and girls since they are underfunded and underrepresented. We are starting to write grants and fund organizations now, which is very exciting. More to come in the next year — big plans!”
