She was the number one professional tennis player in the world at one point and has continued showing her athletic skills in the sport. She was ranked number one several times by the Women’s Tennis Association, including eight times between 2002 and 2017. As of 2019, she has won 23 major singles titles, which has been the most by any man or woman in the open era.

Due to her success and endorsement opportunities, Serena was named the highest paid female athlete in 2016, earning almost $29 million. She repeated the title a year later in 2017.

She was born in Saginaw, Michigan but lived in various places since she was young, including Compton, CA and West Palm Beach, FL.
