Sabrina Ionescu will be one of the freshest faces in the WNBA, but she hardly needs an introduction. The athlete, who made history as the point guard for the Oregon Ducks’ women’s basketball team, was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft! New York Liberty had first dibs, and so the team’s No. 1 choice was Sabrina. There’s a reason why Sabrina was snatched up so quickly!

Sabrina is used to being No. 1. She boasts the accomplishment of being the first person in NCAA history — yes, male or female — to have 2,000 career points (2,562), 1,000 career rebounds (1,040) and 1,000 career assists (1,091). What makes these numbers even more incredible is the fact that Sabrina’s last season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And that’s just grazing the surface: Sabrina’s also known for her legendary triple-doubles (her career total is 26, which is just amazing). Sabrina’s wizardry on the court has caught the attention of fellow basketball stars like Steph Curry! Sabrina even spoke at Kobe Bryant’s memorial in Jan. 2020, following the NBA star’s tragic passing that month.

Sabrina is pictured here at the NCAA Pac 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals between Arizona Wildcats and the Oregon Ducks in Las Vegas on March 7, 2020.
