News of his passing broke on Mar. 9, 2023, after his niece, Noreen Austin, confirmed the news to Deadline. The actor died after a battle with heart disease at the age of 89. Robert passed away in Los Angeles, CA.

Some of the famous actors he worked with over the years included: Dana Elcar, Edward Grover, and Tom Ewell. Later in his life, he starred in Lost Highway alongside David Lynch and Patricia Arquette. The late “controversial” actor ended up with many impressive accolades to his name including a People’s Choice Award, a Golden Globe award, and an Emmy award.

Robert was married three times during his life. First to Sondra Blake, who he was married from 1961 to 1983. Later, he married Bonny Lee Bakley in 2000, however, their marriage ended with her sudden death in 2001. Robert was later acquitted of her murder, as a jury found him not guilty. Finally, his last marriage was to Pamela Hudak, which only lasted from 2017 to 2018. Amid the late 89-year-old’s passing here is a look at his life in photos.
