Rick Santorum, born May 10, 1958, is a former Republican Senator turned political commentator. Santorum served as the Pennsylvania Senator from 1995-2007. During his time in office, he was also the Chair of the Senate Republican Conference from 2001-2007.
Santorum is a conservative pundit who supported the presidential run and presidency of Donald Trump from 2016-2020. While he supported the former president’s agenda, he distanced himself from Trump’s behavior. After his political career, Santorum joined CNN as a political commentator in January 2017.
On May 22, 2021, CNN made the decision to “part ways” with Santorum, roughly one month after his racist remarks, referencing that there was “nothing” here before white colonizers came to what is now the United States.
