Liz Cheney is a Republican congresswoman who has represented Wyoming’s at-large district since 2017. Cheney, a former attorney, became the Chair of the House Republican Committee in 2019 — making her the third-highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. On May 12, 2021, she was removed from her leadership role by House Minority Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other Trump-backing lawmakers. Cheney outwardly spoke out against Trump’s “Big Lie” about election fraud and voted to impeach him after the January 6, 2021 siege on Capitol Hill by his supporters.

Rep. Cheney is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who served under former President George W. Bush for two terms, from 2001 to 2009. Dick Cheney held the same congressional seat that his daughter now holds. He represented Wyoming as a congressman for a decade, from 1979 to 1989. To see photos of Rep.
