Latto — Latto (b. Alyssa Michelle Stephens on December 22, 1998) is an American rapper. Born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Latto began rapping as a young girl. When she was a teenager, she joined ‘The Rap Game,’ the Jermaine Dupri/Queen Latifah-produced reality competition. Latto, going under her ‘Miss Mulatto’ name, won the competition, but turned down Dupri’s recording contract after saying it wasn’t enough money. She experienced her breakthrough in 2019 with ‘B-tch from da Souf,” a song that would later get certified gold. Her 2020 album, ‘Queen of Da Souf,’ would establish her as a rising rap star. “Big Energy,” off of her 2022 follow-up, ‘777,’ would continue her momentum, earning her multiple awards and nominations.

Here, Latto arrives at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Prudential Center on August 28, 2022, in Newark, New Jersey, United States. She was nominated for Best New Artist, Best Hip-Hop, Video for Good, and ‘Song Of The Summer.’
