Larry David was born on July 2, 1947 in New York City to parents Rose and Mortimer David. He was raised Jewish. After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park, he enlisted in the Army. He later pursued a career as a stand-up comic, and became a writer on ‘Saturday Night Live’ from 1984-1985 (where he only ever got one sketch to air). In the late 1980s, he collaborated with Jerry Seinfeld on what eventually became the popular sitcom ‘Seinfeld.’ Larry eventually began work on his own HBO series, ‘Curb Your Enthusiam’ in 2000. Over his career, Larry earned two Emmy Awards for ‘Seinfeld’, and 27 nominations. Notably, Larry has also portrayed U.S. presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on ‘SNL’.
The comedian has two children with ex-wife Laurie David, daughters Cazzie and Romy. Laurie and Larry divorced in 2007 after 14 years. He married producer Ashley Underwood in 2020.
