The King Of Soundtracks! Kenny Loggins knows how to make a hit. The American singer-songwriter, known for his work on films like ‘Footloose’, ‘Caddyshack’, ‘Top Gun’ and more, is a music icon who was born Jan. 7, 1948.

He started his recording career with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970, pairing him up with longtime collaborator Jim Messina. After contributing to the soundtrack for 1976’s ‘A Star Is Born’, Kenny found a knack for movie music. He would win an Oscar in 1985 for his work on ‘Footloose’. Kenny’s trophy shelf also includes a Daytime Emmy and two Grammys for his songwriting.

The songwriter now spends his time at his longtime Santa Barbara, Calif. home, where he is deeply involved in local charity work.

Kenny remembered his overly-confident early days with Las Vegas’ KSNV TV in 2018. He told the station, “Well, when you’re 22 years old, fame is expected.

“I remember, I had a couple of my buddies from college who dropped by for a show backstage before the show and I would take them out and pull the curtain back and say, ‘check this out,’ and there’s like 5,000 people out there and we would walk out and they (audience) all go crazy, and I look back and go, ‘pretty cool, huh?”
