The couple, who married in 2014, met two years prior after a single Katie was introduced to John by her friend Molly Helfet.

Katie was previously married to her late husband Jay Monahan, who she shares daughters Ellie and Caroline with — while John was married to ex-wife Jane, whom he had son Henry and daughter Allie with.

Katie has happily shared the story of her early romance days with John. “He finally asked me out, we met at a restaurant and what can I say?…He had me at hello,” Katie hilariously revealed years after their first date. “He’s really funny and very successful in his own right. In a different line of work,” she later said.

John proposed to Katie in 2013 on a beach in the Hamptons, where they also tied the knot in a non-religious ceremony at her home. “We didn’t want to be too traditional,” she said to PEOPLE magazine. “It was so nice to celebrate such a happy occasion, because we’ve been through a lot in our lives,” she added.

John and Katie have since gone into business together, launching digital platform Katie Couric Media in 2017. Look back at photos of the couple here and their family here.
