‘The record’s called Mala Noche, which is bad night, but it’s been really great not having many of those anymore. So says Julian Lamadrid in 2019, after the release of his Mala Noche project. The musician, born in Dubai to Mexican ex-pats, arrived in New York City at age 18 to attend NYU. After completing his degree in film in just three years, he decided to pursue his true passion: music. After sharing a handful of captivating electro-pop tracks online, Julian developed a huge buzz that set the music industry aflame. He eventually signed to Arista Records in 2019 to release his album, Mala Noche. After the project was released, he stopped by HollywoodLife to pose for some EXCLUSIVE portraits. He also sat down to chat at length about the motivation behind Mala Noche, his wide range of surprising influences, and how he’s eagerly anticipating living in the new version of ‘the roaring twenties.’
