Joey Feek is a beloved American singer/songwriter who will never be forgotten. Born Joey Martin in 1975, Feek began singing and playing guitar at an early age, after persistent encouragement from her father. In 1998, she moved to Nashville to kick-start her music in the best town for it, and made connections with industry big wigs, including LeAnn Rimes’s father. At a music event, Feek met fellow singer/songwriter Rory Feek, whom she married in 2002. From then on, her music career took off with her husband as they formed a duet named Joey + Rory, which lead to several released studio albums. The Feeks even gave birth to their first child in 2014, a baby girl that they named Indiana, who was born with Down syndrome.
Tragedy struck the Feeks in May 2014, when Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Just two short years later, Joey passed away in March 2016, after the cancer had relapsed and she could not handle the treatment pain any longer.
