President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden smile as they welcome guests to the White House for the state dinner with India on June 22, 2023. The president and first lady welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and celebrated the United States’ relationship with India. Besides Modi, the president welcomed many different guests to the White House, including political leaders and a few celebrities, as well as members of his own family. 

The president spoke about the values he was looking to highlight during the visit in a post on his Instagram. “Together, the United States and India will shape the future as we work towards a world that is open, prosperous, secure, and resilient,” he wrote in a caption.

The state dinner with India was the third that Biden has hosted during his administration. His first was with France and French President Emmanuel Macron in December 2022. He hosted his second with South Korea and their President Yoon Suk-yeol in April 2023.
