Take a look at photos of Jimmy Kimmel through the years as a comedian and talk show host
From The Man Show to becoming one of the most recognizable names in late night, Jimmy Kimmel’s career has spanned radio, comedy, and television. He got his start in radio, hosting a Sunday night interview show on UNLV’s college station before moving through stations like KROQ-FM in Los Angeles. While working as “Jimmy the Sports Guy” for the Kevin and Bean morning show, he befriended comedian Adam Carolla. That friendship led to co-hosting The Man Show after Kimmel had already made a mark as the wisecracking sidekick on Comedy Central’s Win Ben Stein’s Money.
In 2025, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was briefly suspended after backlash surrounding comments Kimmel made about the Charlie Kirk shooting — but the host later returned to air before taking another short break following the death of his longtime bandleader and childhood friend, Cleto Escobedo III. In an emotional tribute, Kimmel described Escobedo as “a great friend, father, son, musician and man,” telling viewers they had been “inseparable since I was nine years old.” The show is currently on a brief hiatus as Kimmel takes time to grieve and spend time with family.
Despite the challenges, Kimmel remains one of late night’s most enduring figures — earning a Creative Arts Emmy in 2025 for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and launching a new charitable effort, the “Big, Beautiful Food Bank,” to support families affected by the 2025 government shutdown.
