James Comey was born on December 14, 1960. Throughout his career, he has been known for holding legal positions in the political world, including serving as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and later as Deputy Attorney General, both under President George W. Bush. He was later appointed Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by President Barack Obama and was dismissed by President Donald Trump during Trump’s first term.

In May 2025, James Comey became the subject of an investigation after sharing a post containing the message “86 47,” which many interpreted as a potential threat toward President Donald Trump, prompting authorities to launch an inquiry.

More recently, prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia are reportedly preparing to seek an indictment against Comey, potentially accusing him of lying to Congress in his September 2020 testimony related to the FBI’s investigation of Trump’s 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia. If filed, it would mark one of the most high-profile legal actions against a former top official.
