‘Hamilton: An American Musical’ is an original Broadway show that hit the stage in 2015 and earned near unanimous acclaim for its retelling and rendition of the founding of America. The show is both sung and rapped by it’s cast, who are comprised of a diverse cast playing the likes of Alexander Hamilton, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, among others. The music, lyrics and book are written by Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on the 2004 biography ‘Alexander Hamilton’ by historian Ron Cerhnow. The show went on to win 12 Tony Awards out of its 17 nominations, including Best Musical. The show has been taken to Chicago, Puerto Rico and has gone on to have a successful national tour. Among its other honors, ‘Hamilton’ also earned a Grammy Award and a Kennedy Center Honor in 2018 for its contributions to art and culture.
