‘Game of Thrones’ will return for its eighth and final season on April 14 on HBO. Season 7 aired back in 2017 so fans have been waiting nearly 2 years for the show’s return. The final season will consist of only 6 episodes, but they will range from 55 to 82 minutes. The show first aired back in 2011 and has become a worldwide phenomenon. Everyone is dying to know how it will all end. While many characters have been killed off over the years, there are a number of beloved characters who have made it to season 8. Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, and more will be in the final season. Over the years, we have fallen for these characters. For many of these characters, we’ve seen them grow up over the years and evolve so much. Jon Snow has gone from being a bastard to the true heir to the Iron Throne. While he was raised as Ned Stark’s bastard, Jon Snow is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, who was Ned’s sister. Ned promised Lyanna he would protect her son, whose real name is Aegon Targaryen. Jon Snow still doesn’t know his true parentage heading into season 8 but it’s only a matter of time. Kit Harington has played Jon Snow since the season 1 premiere.

Daenerys Targaryen has evolved so much since the first season. She was initially a pawn in Viserys’s game, but now she’s a queen and in control of her own destiny. She’s a total boss. Her full title is: Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. Emilia Clarke has played Daenerys since the season 1 premiere.

Sansa Stark is a survivor. For the majority of the series, she’s been in enemy territory. She’s dealt with Joffrey, watched her father get decapitated, gotten married twice, and suffered unimaginable horrors at the hands of Ramsay Bolton. Sansa is not a little girl anymore. She’s the Lady of Winterfell. Sophie Turner has played Sansa since the season 1 premiere.

Bran Stark was just a boy when ‘Game of Thrones’ began. Many counted him off after he was crippled when Jaime Lannister pushed him out the window at Winterfell, but he’s got the answers to all. He’s now the Three-Eyed Raven. He’s also one of only two people who knows the truth about Jon Snow’s parentage. Isaac Hempstead Wright has played Bran since season 1.

Jaime Lannister has transformed from a villain to a hero. The Kingslayer has been humbled over the last 8 seasons, including losing his hand in season 3. He has stood by his sister/lover Cersei’s side for the majority of the series, but he finally saw her true colors at the end of season 7. Now he’s riding north to Winterfell to do what’s right and fight for the living. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has played Jaime Lannister since the season 1 premiere.

Cersei Lannister’s villain status has only grown over the years. Cersei orchestrating her husband’s death in season 1 was only the beginning. In season 6, she notoriously blew up the Great Sept of Baelor with wildfire with hundreds of people inside. She’s suffered her fair share of karma, though. She’s had to bury all three of her children and endured her Walk of Shame. She may be the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms now, but she’s got no one left by her side who truly cares about her. Lena Headey has played Cersei Lannister since season 1.

Theon Greyjoy, where do we even begin? He grew up with the Starks after a failed rebellion attempt by the Iron Islands. When it came down to it, he abandoned his surrogate family and attempted to take the North for his father. He was later captured and suffered horrific torture at the hands of Ramsay Bolton. Ramsay castrated Theon and renamed him Reek. Theon has been beaten down and weakened, but there’s still a hero inside of him. Alfie Allen has played Theon since the first season.
