‘Ever After’ Then & Now

‘Ever After’ Then & Now — ‘Ever After’ is turning 25! The film officially celebrates its 25th anniversary on July 31. ‘Ever After’ hit theaters in 1998 and has become an instant millennial classic. Drew Barrymore stars as Danielle (‘Ever After’s Cinderella), a young woman in 16th century France who is forced into servitude after the death of her beloved father. Danielle’s wicked stepmother Rodmilla treats her horribly. Danielle’s life takes a turn when she crosses paths with the dashing Prince Henry.

In addition to Drew, ‘Ever After’ also stars Anjelica Huston, Dougray Scott, Melanie Lynskey, and Megan Dodds. In honor of the anniversary, Drew had Melanie and Megan on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ in March 2023. They dressed up as their characters, with Drew in a recreation of Danielle’s stunning masquerade gown, on the show. Even after all these years, the love amongst the ‘Ever After’ cast is still there. Anjelica Huston — The legendary Anjelica Huston played Baroness Rodmilla, Danielle’s evil stepmother. Anjelica has had a storied career in Hollywood. Since ‘Ever After,’ the Oscar winner has starred in ‘The Royal Tenenbaums,’ ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’ the series ‘Smash,’ and more.

Melanie Lynskey — Melanie Lynskey starred as Jacqueline de Ghent, Danielle’s nice stepsister. Melanie has notably starred in movies like ‘Coyote Ugly,’ ‘Sweet Home Alabama,’ and ‘Don’t Look Up.’ The Emmy nominee currently stars in the Showtime hit series ‘Yellowjackets.’
