All hail the champ. Errol Spence Jr. is a southpaw with a deadly punch. Born in Long Island and raised in the Cedar Hills-DeSoto part of Dallas, Errol displayed a love of boxing early on. He won the International Amateur Boxing association’s world championship in 2008 and the U.S. National Amateur championship for three years straight – 2009 to 2011. In the 2012 Olympics, he reached the quarter-finals, but failed to take home the gold. In 2012, he went pro and has reached massive levels of success. He won the IBF Welterweight championship in May 2017. As of October 2019, he was undefeated – 26 wins with 20 knockouts. As of Aug. 2019, he was ranked as the world’s fifth best active boxer, pound for pound. In Sept. 2019, he unified the IBF welterweight title with the World Boxing Council’s welterweight title, defeating Shawn Porter by split decision in a bought many considered to be fight of the year.
