‘Empire’ Season 5 — Photos — ‘Empire’ is currently in its fifth season. The show, which airs on FOX, stars Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, and Bryshere Y. Gray. ‘Empire’ follows the ups and downs of the Lyon family as they stake their claim as music’s ultimately family dynasty. Taraji won a Golden Globe in 2016 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The fifth season started out with a huge mystery: who is in the coffin that Lucious is standing over? The show will not reveal the character in the coffin until the season 5 finale, which will air in May 2019. ‘Empire’ has not been renewed for a sixth season yet, but that announcement isn’t expected until May as well. The series also stars Gabourey Sidibe, Serayah, Andre Royo, Nicole Ari Parker, and more. Guest stars have included Mariah Carey, Rita Ora, Kelly Rowland, and more.
