One of Cleveland’s most beloved sons is Drew Carey. Raised in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of the Ohio city, Drew developed a taste for entertainment early on in his life. After a six-year stint as a field radio operator in the Marines, Drew began his comedy career in the mid-1980s. Appearances on ‘Star Search,’ ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,’ and ‘Late Night With David Letterman’ led to his first comedy special in 1994. The following year, ‘The Drew Carey Show’ premiered on ABC, and ran until 2004. ‘The Drew Carey Show’ had 233 episodes in total, and helped make Ryan Stiles, Diedrich Bader, Kathy Kinney, Christa Miller, and Craig Ferguson stars in the comedy world.
In 2007, Drew began the second chapter of his career, taking over for Bob Barker on ‘The Price Is Right.’ Drew had dipped his toe in the hosting waters before, with the Americanized version of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ and ‘Power Of 10.’ Drew took over the role, and fans have since embraced him as the host of the long-running game show.
