Donovan Mitchell is an American professional basketball player who was born in Elmsford, NY on September 7, 1996. He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals from 2015-2017, before he decided to cut his sophomore year short to enter the 2017 NBA Draft. Donovan, a point guard/shooting guard, was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th overall pick — but was traded on draft night to the Utah Jazz. Mitchell was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and won the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest — all in his rookie year, which landed him in the running for NBA Rookie of the Year. Philadelphia 76ers point guard, Ben Simmons ended up winning. Donovan landed a multi-million dollar signature shoe deal with Adidas in June 2019. The launch of his D.O.N. Issue #1 was in conjunction with the Spider Man film franchise. He is known for his charity and philanthropic efforts, as well as his anti-bullying advocacy. Donovan is very close with his sister, Jordan Mitchell and mother Nicole Mitchell. On March 12, 2020, Donovan confirmed in a lengthy post on Instagram that he tested positive for coronavirus. Coronavirus, also known was COVID-19 is a new disease that emerged in China in December 2019. The news came just less than 24 hours after his teammate, Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus on March 11.
