‘Dexter’ Cast Then And Now: Michael C. Hall & More — He’s back! Dexter Morgan will return in the limited series event ‘Dexter: New Blood,’ which premieres November 7 on Showtime. Michael C. Hall is reprising the fan-favorite role that he originated in the original Showtime series that premiered in 2006. Dexter was last seen living a life of anonymity as a lumberjack. ‘New Blood’ takes place 10 years after the events of the ‘Dexter’ season 8 finale.

Dexter is now living in Iron Lake, New York, hiding his identity under the name of Jim Lindsay, a local shopkeeper. He’s been able to keep his serial killing urges under control for a while, but he can’t resist the temptations forever. Dexter will cross paths with familiar and new faces in the new series.

Michael continues to play the role of Dexter Morgan to perfection. After leaving the character behind in 2013, Michael went on to star on Broadway in ‘Hedwig and The Angry Inch.’ He played JFK in an episode of ‘The Crown.’ Michael is also a member of the band Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum. Jennifer Carpenter

Jennifer Carpenter — Jennifer Carpenter began playing Deb Morgan when the show premiered in 2006. Deb was Dexter’s foster sister. At the end of the final season, Deb died after getting shot and suffering a massive stroke. Jennifer will reprise the role of Deb in ‘New Blood’ as Dexter’s Dark Passenger.

Since ‘Dexter’ ended in 2013, Jennifer went on to star in shows like ‘Limitless’ and ‘The Enemy Within.’ She married Seth Avett in 2016. They have one child together.

Julie Benz

Julie Benz — Julie Benz played main cast member Rita Bennett for the first 4 seasons of ‘Dexter.’ Rita was Dexter’s wife and gave birth to their son. Rita was shockingly killed off at the end of season 4.

She made a guest appearance in season 5. Since leaving ‘Dexter,’ Julie has starred in series like ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘Training Day,’ and ‘Love, Victor.’

Lauren Vélez

Lauren Vélez — Lauren Vélez starred as María LaGuerta for the first 7 seasons of ‘Dexter.’ At the end of season 7, LaGuerta was killed by Deb.

Lauren has had notable roles on TV shows like ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘How To Get Away With Murder,’ as well as movies like ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.’

Erik King

Erik King — Erik King starred as James Doakes for the first 2 seasons of ‘Dexter.’ Doakes was killed off in season 2 after being caught in an explosion set by Dexter’s lover Lila Tournay. Since ‘Dexter,’ Erik has had roles on ‘Banshee,’ ‘The Good Fight,’ and ‘The Oath.’

David Zayas — David Zayas starred as Angel Batista for all 8 seasons of ‘Dexter.’ Batista managed to make it out of the series alive. Since ‘Dexter,’ he’s had notable roles in TV shows like ‘Shut Eye,’ ‘Bloodline,’ and ‘Gotham.’

James Remar — James Remar played Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father, for all 8 seasons of the show. He was seen primarily in flashbacks and as Dexter’s Dark Passenger. James has continued his TV success on ‘Gotham,’ ‘Black Lightning,’ and more. He will next be seen on ‘The Rookie.’
