From a basement in Rosemont to the halls of rock history. Dennis DeYoung, a self-described ‘kid in a basement with an accordion, is best known as the lead vocalist for STYX, the classic rock group behind such songs as “Come Saily Away,” “Babe,” “Lady,” “You’re Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” “Mr. Roboto,” and more. In 1984, Dennis began his solo career with ‘Desert Moon,’ an album whose title track generated a top-10 hit. Over the next four decades, Dennis would release seven solo albums, reunite with STYX in the 1990s (only to have a falling out at the end of the decade), perform in a revival of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar,’ and make his on-screen debut in 2005’s ‘The Perfect Man’ (performing as a lead vocalist for a STYX tribute band.) In 2021, he released his final studio album, ’26 East Vol. 2,’ a celebration of a seven-decade career that etched his name into the history books.
