Colin Kaepernick — Colin Rand Kaepernick is an American football quarterback who is a free agent. At one point, he was most popularly known for simply playing six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL), but perhaps now he is best known for being a political activist.

Here, San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick is pictured kneeling during the national anthem before an NFL football game against the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle. His kneeling was sadly frowned upon by the NFL and was seen as an act of defiance. Kaepernick’s activism was essentially commandeered by NFL officials and he was forced to leave the league.

But, the rest of the world has backed Kaepernick up in this social movement and have started kneeling during the national anthem as well.

Other activists out there kneeled in protest of police brutality and racial inequality in the United States, which has been a problem for far too long in the country.
