Chrissie Hynde, born September 7, 1951, is an American singer, songwriter and musician. Chrissie is credited as one of the founders of the rock group The Pretenders, for which she is the lead guitarist, vocalist, and primary singer for the band.
Chrissie has received a number of honors for her work in the music industry. Along with releasing 12 albums with The Pretenders, she has earned four Grammy nominations from the Recording Academy and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the class of 2005, along with the rest of The Pretenders. Upon their induction, they were credited for showcasing the very best of punk and new wave music — an incredible accomplishment.
