Chester Bennington: Photos — Chester Bennington, born March 20, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona, was a singer and songwriter, known as the frontman of the nu-metal band Linkin Park, in addition to other projects. The band had a huge success with their debut album, ‘Hybrid Theory’, released in 2000. It sold over 10,000,000 copies and made Linkin Park a huge name in the alternative music scene. They would go on to release 10 singles that topped the Billboard Alt. Charts, including hits like “Numb” and “New Divide”.

Chester, who was known for his raw lyrics and soaring, but anguished vocals, dealt with depression and substance abuse for most of his life. He took his own life on July 20, 2017 at his Palos Verdes, California home.

We’re trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal.

“After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human. You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve.”
