Bobby was best known as a singer throughout his life. He first stepped into a big spotlight when he won a talent show on the television series ‘Paul Whiteman’s TV Teen Club’ as a kid and became part of the cast for several years. He then played in various bands until signing his own music contract with Cameo Records.

He went on to release a hit song called ‘Kissin’ Time’ in 1959 and followed it up with other hit tunes like ‘Wild One’ and a cover of ‘Volare’ in the 1960s. He also starred opposite Ann-Margaret and Dick Van Dyke in the 1963 movie ‘Bye Bye Birdie.’

His big influence over the years was prominent and showed in interesting happenings, like when the name Rydell High School in the musical and film versions of ‘Grease’ was named after him.

Bobby passed away of pneumonia at the age of 79 in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA.
