Talk about a power couple! Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z became a force to be reckoned with the moment they got together in the early 2000s and you can see photos of the couple here.

The duo met in 2000 and worked on several hit songs together. The private pair would keep out and the public eye and quietly married in 2008. They welcomed daughter Blue Ivy Carter on Jan. 7 2012. Twins Rumi and Sir arrived on June 13. 2017. The couple had sold a combined 300 million records together.

Still, Bey and Jay’s relationship has endured tough times. In 2016 Beyonce called Jay out for cheating in her revenge album Lemonade. They would move past the drama and release the album ‘Everything Is Love’ together in June 2018. Now, after 13 years of marriage, chart-topping collaborations, and two hit tours together, the pair is stronger than ever.

The pair were friends for a year before enjoying their first date at the upscale Malibu sushi spot Nobu in 2001. Jay-Z almost ruined the date by bringing a male pal, however.

“We were friends first for a year and a half before we went on any dates,” Beyonce told Oprah in 2013. “We were on the phone for a year and a half, and that foundation is so important for a relationship. Just to have someone who you just like is so important, and someone [who] is honest.”

Bey and Jay first collaborated on the song “03 Bonnie & Clyde”, released in Oct. 2002. They would have a hit again in May 2003 with “Crazy In Love”, a track which was inspired by their blossoming relationship. The duo would win a Grammy for the track the next year.

The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2004 VMAs. Beyonce mused about marriage 2 years later, telling Cosmopolitan, “I  don’t know when I’ll want to get married. I never pictured myself as a bride, but after my sister’s wedding, I did start thinking about what kind of wedding I’d want. I don’t think I want a big one.”

Beyonce and Jay share a secret at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, in London in July 2016. They are friends of the Williams sisters and often attend their matches.

Bey and Jay tied the knot on Apr. 4 2008. The ceremony took place in his 13,500-sq.-ft. Manhattan penthouse, which was decorated with 70,000 dendrobium orchids flown in from Thailand.

Their 40 guests — which included her Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin — were banned from any recording and reportedly had their phones taken away pre-ceremony.

Jay confirmed they were man and wife to Vibe later that year, explaining why he’s protective of his relationship. “You’ll go insane in this type of business,” he said. “You have to have something that’s sacred to you and the people around you.”

Beyonce announced the Carters were starting a family in Aug. 2011. While singing her track “Love On Top” on stage at the MTV VMAs, she told the audience, “I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me.”

It was a joyous occasion for the star, who would reveal that she once suffered a miscarriage in her 2013 documentary ‘Life Is But A Dream.’ “I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life… being pregnant was very much like falling in love,” she said in the doc. “[Early into the pregnancy] I flew back to New York to get my checkup—and no heartbeat. Literally, the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.”

Their daughter Blue Ivy Carter was born Jan. 7 2012 in New York City. Beyonce would introduce the world to their little girl on her Tumblr in Feb, telling fans, “We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives.”

It was clear Blue had inherited her parent’s creativity from an early age. She made a cameo on dad’s 2017 album ‘4:44’ and teamed up with mom in 2019 for the song “Brown Skin Girl” with Saint Jhn and Wizkid. The track — off ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ soundtrack — won Best Music Video at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, making Blue the Guinness World Record holder for youngest individually credited Grammy winner at 9 years old.

Beyonce and Jay Z still have chemistry. The couple have been together for almost two decades.

The couple demonstrated their musical connection with several hits in 2013, the year after welcoming daughter Blue. Beyonce was featured on Jay’s song “Part II (On The Run)” from his album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’. That December they would drop the electric “Drunk In Love” off of Beyonce’s self-titled album. The couple opened the 2014 Grammys with a sultry performance of the track.

The couple looked white-hot during their 2018 ‘On The Run II tour’. The matching looks were by Balmain.

Though the couple has stayed strong through their decades-long relationship, they’ve had their fair share of drama. After the 2014 Met Gala, Jay and Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles were caught on video fighting in an elevator. They were allegedly fighting over cheating allegations.

The family would go on to release a statement that said, “There has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.

“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

The couple would put on a united front in June 2014 when they embarked on their first joint tour together. But things still looked rocky around that time, when an insider told Page Six they were on the brink of divorce.

“They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing,” the source said at the time. “This is a huge concert tour, and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters upfront. Jay was outdoing Jay, and Bey was outdoing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn’t.” The supposed split never happened.

Beyonce released her video album Lemonade in April 2016. Many of the fiery tracks appeared to allude to Jay’s cheating and in the song “Sorry”, where she sings the iconic lines, “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair.” Though there was much speculation about who Becky could be, Beyonce later revealed the character was more of a symbol for “the other woman”.

Despite things seeming shaky, she would give a shout-out to her husband while touring the album in 2016.

Twice as nice! Beyonce and Jay-Z surprised the world when they announced they were expecting again in Feb. 2017 with a beautiful photo of Beyonce cradling her bump while surrounded by flowers.

The pair revealed they were having twins, telling fans, “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well-wishes.” Twins Rumi and Sir were born June 13, 2017.

They’ve weathered their fair share of drama. Both have used their relationship woes as inspiration for their music.

After the birth of Rumi and Sir, Jay-Z released his album ‘4:44’, where he admitted to being unfaithful. He rapped, “I apologize, our love was one for the ages and I contained us / And if my children knew, I don’t even know what I would do / If they ain’t look at me the same / I would prolly d-e with all the shame.”

Things seemed great for the couple, who in June 2018 embarked on tour together in anticipation of their joint album, ‘Everything Is Love’.
