Barbara Walters was one of the most easily recognizable journalists of all time. She began her career in the 1950s working for CBS and then NBC as a writer and researcher. She flourished at NBC News and eventually became the TODAY show’s first female co-host alongside Hugh Downs and Frank McGee. She moved to ABC News as a nightly anchor in 1976, and she became one of the most well-known and well-regarded journalists on TV.
Aside from hosting the nightly news, she rose to fame through her ’20/20′ interviews, where she did in-depth coverage on a wide variety of subjects. Her career took her on a wide array of interviews, including world leaders like Vladimir Putin and Fidel Castro, other media personalities like Anna Wintour, and celebrities including Michael Jackson, Katherine Hepburn, and many more.
Barbara also created the talk show, The View, and remained there on the panel of co-hosts until she retired in 2014.
